Neighborhood Crime Meeting

This evening I attended the Neighborhood Crime gathering at the City Council meeting. The council chambers were full before the 6:30p start time, so like many others I dispatched to an upstairs room to watch the proceedings on television.
The news media will do more justice to the details than I could. However, the bottom line of the meeting was our city took a step forward. The City Council appears prepared to tackle the inadequacies of our justice system, with the support of the citizens of Charlotte.
In Third Ward we are fortunate to have a dip in crime in recent months. Of course this is no time to be complacent. Our CMPD officers will continue to offer their recommendations for crime prevention, and the association meetings will be a forum for new ideas as well.
If you also represented Third Ward tonight, thank you!

This will be Basil's second location. Avenue Market will feature grocery items, wine, and beer, and serve sandwiches, smoothies, and sushi.

An opening is planned for Summer 2008 "if all continues to go well." Blaine will be in attendance at our May 27th meeting to share the final construction plans.
