From Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities:
"A 20-inch water pipe broke this morning near 5th Street and Cedar Street. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities is shutting down water service around this broken section of pipe and repairs are under way.
This pipe is a significant provider of drinking water to the uptown area. Some customers uptown are reporting low water pressure and/or discolored water.
While the pipe repair is under way, Utilities is making operational adjustments to the water distribution system to move more water into the affected area to stabilize pressure. We are also testing water quality to ensure safety. Customers with low water pressure or discolored water are asked to contact 311.
More updates will be provided and posted on http://www.cmutilities.com/ (News & Updates) as information becomes available."
