Neighborhood Energy Challenge!

Dear Third Ward Residents,

I'm Lindsay Hazelman, a Third Ward resident, and am pleased to announce that the Neighborhood Association is participating in Charlotte's very own NEIGHBORHOOD ENERGY CHALLENGE!

The Neighborhood Energy Challenge (NEC) encourages neighborhood-level involvement in planning and implementing energy solutions through two funding components:

  • Funding Component 1: Energy Conservation Action Plan projects to benefit the overall neighborhood ($20,000).
  • Funding Component 2: The Household Energy Fund, provides individual households funding to install weatherization & energy upgrades ($60,000).

25% of the qualifying criteria to receive these funds is successful community engagement.  Please email if you are interested in participating on our Neighborhood Energy Efficiency Team (NEET).  I'll be organizing a brainstorming meeting in the next two weeks and would like as many residents to attend as possible.  Please let me know if you are interested.

I'll be managing the grant application process for the neighborhood.  If you are unable to attend a brainstorming meeting (TBD), I encourage you to submit your weatherization and energy conservations ideas to  Project ideas will be voted on at the June 21st Third Ward Meeting.

For more information, please view the NEC Presentation or the NEC Grant Application Guidelines, found at the bottom of this page.
