A big thank you goes to the Carolina Panthers, Hartigan’s Irish Pub, and Elevate Magazine for their partnership in the 2010 Third Ward Tailgate! (Photos can be found here.) I would also like to thank the board of directors, especially Tracey Wopperer and Mike Sposato, and all members of the Third Ward Neighborhood Association. Your contributions allow the association to carry out its mission, including the production of great neighborhood events like the Tailgate (membership).
Near-constant activity continues in Third Ward, with changes coming to neighborhood schools and a potential grant being the “tipping point” for real progress on Gateway Station. The board has been working to attend meetings, ensure relevant information is posted on the website, and secure interesting speakers for upcoming meetings. As always, we thank you for your interest and input.
The October 18th meeting (6:00p, Gateway Village YMCA) will feature Larry Kopf from the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) to discuss transit plans, and representatives from Charlotte Center City Partners (CCCP) to present information on their City Market proposal.
Many residents don’t know that as Uptown property owners, we fund CCCP through a special property tax called a Municipal Service District (MSD). CCCP asks neighborhood associations to deliver feedback from residents regarding CCCP initiatives. I encourage you to attend the October meeting to speak with CCCP representatives directly. Going forward, please feel free to share your feedback with me and other board members, or via firstname.lastname@example.org. Your input will be kept confidential (unless you state otherwise).
Please also see this FAQ for a better understanding of MSDs and CCCP. See you at the meeting!
