A reminder for those interested in service to Third Ward by becoming part of the Board of Directors: Please submit your application form to me this week.
A special opportunity for Board leadership has manifested via Charlotte Trolley. With the Blue Line’s increased traffic through South End, Charlotte Trolley is considering relocation of its historic line to the Third Ward-Wesley Heights-Seversville corridor, with its eastern terminus in Third Ward’s Cedar Yards. Charlotte Trolley plans to launch an initiative to study this plan, with assistance from neighborhood residents welcomed and needed. This will be a fun opportunity for people to be involved – volunteer!
Among the holiday joy, please remember the Johnson/Dye and Weis families in your thoughts and prayers. Myrtle Johnson, 81, a 57-year resident of Third Ward, passed away on November 27th (obituary). Myrtle’s home was on North Clarkson Street, and she was a retired employee of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Her daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Michael Dye, will continue to reside in the family home.
Mary Weis, a resident of neighboring Fourth Ward, passed away on December 6th. Many of you have met her husband Lynn, who gives regular tours of Elmwood-Pinewood Cemetery and has been active in Uptown leadership.
