Charlotte B-cycle teams up with CATS to offer discounted membership
Charlotte, NC – June 18, 2013 – Charlotte B-cycle has partnered with the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) to offer riders an opportunity to purchase B-cycle memberships at discounted rates. Effective immediately, riders will be able to purchase 1-year B-cycle memberships for $52.50. In addition, 5-month, $15 memberships will be offered for local students or faculty members (with a valid .edu email address).
Memberships include unlimited access to the Charlotte B-cycle system, which currently includes 200 bikes at 20 stations around Center City. The system has more than 400 annual B-cycle members in Charlotte.
“Many of the CATS bus stops and light rail stops are located near B-cycle stations, so the bikes can become another easy option to help these customers get around. Adding a B-cycle membership helps extend transit for customers – turning walk zones into ride zones,” said Dianna Ward, executive director for Charlotte B-cycle. “When added to CATS bus passes, a membership with Charlotte B-cycle allows riders to have several transit options when deciding how to get around the city.”
Charlotte B-cycle launched in August 2012 as Charlotte’s first and only bike sharing system. The system is designed so that customers “check out” bikes for quick rides between stations. “B-cycle is really perfect for commuters in Charlotte, but the system also helps increase health and wellness of our riders,” said Ward.
“CATS encourages many alternative modes of travel including trains, buses, vanpooling, biking and walking. We are pleased to partner with Charlotte B-cycle to offer convenient and accessible transportation that contributes to the overall health and air quality of the Charlotte region,” said Carolyn Flowers, CEO of CATS.
